18x24 oil on primed linen canvas stretched on wood bars Signed: Lower left MFlack Completed: Fall 2014
Artist’s Comments:
I first met this rooster at a farm/dog kennel somewhere in the backroads’ country of Santa Maria. We were picking up our new dog, Jamaica, an Australian Shepherd. This rooster kept following us around as we watched the dogs romp and play. I believe Rooster Cogburn was strongly suggesting that I take his picture and immortalize him on canvas. So I did just that. He is a Black Copper Marans; flashy, handsome, and all rooster.
