Boulder Creek Run-off Boulder Creek Falls, California
10x20 palette knife oil on cotton gallery wrap canvas Signed: Lower left MFlack Completed: October 2014
Artist’s Comments:
There is something about a waterfall after the rain!! It is powerful, noisy, beautiful, abundant and full! In a time of drought, the over-flowing waterfall is a joyous thing to behold. Northern California seems to be filled with waterfalls, and I want to see every single one of them.
This painting was done with a palette knife instead of a brush. It was easier, I felt, to convey the weightiness and mass of the runoff water with a knife instead of a brush, thus the thick paint strokes and the almost impressionistic style.
